The Sun That Flew Away

Lidiia, a Ukrainian mother, and her young daughter, Solomiia, are on the road, in search for a ray of hope to send back to their home country, which they fled just 6 months ago, leaving behind Kiyv, the war, their husband and father Sasha, and most importantly Solomiia's toys.

This short film, shot as a narrative project, is featuring Lidiia and Solomiia, who are interpreting their real life roles, as they've arrived in Canada less than six months ago, as Ukrainian refugees. Lidiia was a professional actor in Ukraine.

Selected in 2024 by Venezia Shorts, Female Eye Film Festival, Mirada Corta (Visiones Unicas), New York Indie Shorts Awards.
